Annual Heritage Day

Heritage Day at Sanskriti is an annual cultural event, that is a culmination of diverse Indian customs and traditions built around a specific theme. In the past years, we have had themes ranging from Indian wedding, family traditions, natural wonders and Indian food. The theme for this year is "Indian Heroes".  Students and volunteers are working hard to prepare a creative display through drama, musicals, skit, presentations etc. In addition there will be a display of student ‘Hero’ projects, an activity table for kids, clothing swap for Sanskriti school members followed by food.

 

• A skype call with Shiva Ayyadurai – the inventor of email and an Indian Hero, an alumnus of Livingston High School.
• Welcome address by the Mayor of Livingston – Michael Silverman. Event also attended and supported by Deputy Mayor, Past Mayor and Town Council members. We are expecting more local heroes to join in.
• The children’s librarian from the Livingston Public Library will be happy to answer your questions. Kids projects will  be displayed at the Livingston Public Library in March/May. (Asian-American Heritage Month)
• Introducing Clothing Swap: Donations will be accepted on Feb. 7th and on Heritage Day between 9:30 & 10am only. Tokens will be distributed to all those who donated and you will be able to shop for clothes based on your token number. We are in need of volunteers to make this a success!
