A Musical Tribute to the late Pt. Shivkumar Sharma

Samvaad is excited to present an outdoor concert to celebrate the season and to pay tribute to the late santoor legend Pt. Shivkumar Sharma. We have three outstanding local artists performing in what promises to be a sublime morning.

Vinay Desai on Santoor

Vinay's initial training in Hindustani Classical Music, vocal/harmonium, & tabla, began under the guidance of Shafiq Rahman. Vinay's passion and dedication to Santoor allowed him to be under the tutelage of late Pt. Shivkumar Sharma. He has performed Santoor solos across USA, India, Argentina, Kauai and the Bahamas.

Jay Gandhi on Flute

A multifaceted artist, Jay's music is a reflection of an eclectic array of musical influences and years of training under the inimitable legend of the bansuri, Pt Hariprasad Chaurasia. He is a world traveling performer, educator and a founding member of the Brooklyn Raga Massive, a groundbreaking NYC musicians collective.

Vivek Pandya on Tabla

Vivek is only eighteen years old out of which he has been learning tabla for over nine years. He has been a disciple of the world renowned tabla maestro Pandit Anindo Chatterjee for the past nine years. Vivek was born in Long Island, NY in a musical family. His tonal quality, clarity of bols, speed and musicality has been recognized by musicians and music lovers all around the world.

We hope you will join us for this musical morning and support our efforts to bring Indian Classical music to our doorstep.
