Online Registration opens February 1st for Culture Enrichment



ENRICHMENT PROGRAM

Culture enrichment classes are offered between 11am and noon during the Culture hour.  These classes are designed to offer our children an intensive, hands-on exposure to various sports, dance, art & craft forms with the intent of giving them a flavor and appreciation of our rich Indian culture.  Children currently enrolled in Culture classes are required to take enrichment classes.  These classes are open to children of Sanskriti Members for a nominal fee. The last day of school  will include a showcase of what the children have learned in enrichment. 

The following classes are offered:



PLEASE NOTE: Children must commit to one class only for the entire session.


1.Healthy Hearts & Minds

Now in its second year, our Healthy Hearts & Minds Wellness Program continues to support children in caring for their minds, bodies, and hearts. Through yoga, mindfulness, and engaging wellness activities, students learn to manage stress, build focus, and develop healthy habits that promote balance, confidence, and overall well-being.

Age group:  5 - 12 years


2.Traditional Art Forms

This year, art enrichment students will explore a variety of Indian art styles, with a special focus on popular folk and tribal art forms. Selected student artwork will be proudly displayed at the Livingston Library.

Instructors: Nithya Venkatesh, Visalakshi Vaidyanathan, along with parent and teen volunteers
Age Group: 7 - 13 years


3.Sports

This year’s sports program introduces students to a variety of traditional Indian sports. Participants will learn the rules, skills, and techniques of games such as Carrom, Cricket, Lagori, Kabaddi, and other sports of Indian origin through fun, hands-on instruction.

Age group: Level 1: 5 - 8 years
Age group: Level 2: 9 - 13 years


4.Dance

Dance is an integral part of Indian culture. Indian film songs and dances are also known for their energy, storytelling, and vibrant costume and setting changes throughout a song. In this Bollywood dance enrichment course, children will learn a fun, energetic dance routine with a strong focus on enjoyment, expression, and movement.

Age group: Level 1: 5 - 8 years

Age group: Level 2: 9 - 13 years


5.Cooking

In this class, students will learn to prepare quick, healthy, and delicious vegetarian Indian dishes. By actively participating in the cooking process, children gain confidence and are more likely to enjoy nutritious meals. Students will get hands-on experience, explore common Indian spices, and discover regional differences in Indian cuisine—then enjoy tasting what they create!
Please note: Students will do light chopping. Most cooking will be done using an oven or electric skillet.

6.Drama

In this class, students will develop their dramatic skills by performing various roles in a short, Indian-themed play. They will learn to focus their intent, motivation, and expression to build and sustain a character. The goal is to help children gain confidence on stage while creatively immersing themselves in their roles.

Where do I sign up?

Online registration opens on February 1st. Please watch for an email blast with full registration details. We encourage you to review the options with your child and register early, as classes are filled on a first-come, first-served basis.

Registration will be exclusive to Sanskriti School students for the first week. If space allows, it will open to the wider community on February 9th.

What does it cost?

  • Free for Sanskriti School students enrolled in Culture

  • $175 for children of Sanskriti of NJ members who are not currently enrolled in Sanskriti Indian School or Culture


Please note: Students enrolled in Chess during the second hour who wish to participate in Enrichment must register separately and will forfeit their Chess lessons.
